There is nothing more American than some good old-fashioned downhome barbecue. Who doesn’t enjoy the tangy sauces, tender meats, and the fragrant aroma wafting through the open air on a lazy afternoon? Add that to the fresh smell of crispy bacon simmering in a pan and you have a meal to die for.

Well, it’s that time of year again! A time when you can take the best of American eats and serve them up with a healthy dose of the kind of music born and bred in this country and a good time is to be had by all. You can finally bring all your family and friends together and head on down to the Tippy Creek Winer’s annual BBQ, Bacon, Blues & Wine Festival. This year, it will be held on Saturday, October 13th on the Tippy Creek Winery grounds.

It’s a long-standing tradition that everyone has been looking forward to. A time when you can sit back and indulge in good food, listen to good music and forget about your cares and woes for one day. No need to go cooking, cleaning, or anything else; everyone there will be able to relax and live in the moment.

The Food

Already, great vendors are lining up to give you the best they can turn out. You can look forward tasting delectables from Chubby Buddies, Big Mouth, Roll-N Smoke, Hogs R Wild, and Smokin Backyard, each offering barbecues with their own little twist on it. Visit your favorite vendor or visit them all; it’s a no holds barred affair.

The Music

While you’re indulging, you can take in the music of Big Daddy Dupree and the Broke & Hungry Blues Band. Their flavor of music comes straight from the southern side of Chicago with songs that can literally touch your soul. Maybe you’ve already enjoyed some of their popular classics like Hey Bartender, Hoochie Coochie Man, The Thrill is Gone, or Fool for Your Stockings.  Whether you’ve heard them before or you’ll be enjoying them for the first time, you’re sure to get your fill of the soulful stirrings when you’re at the festival.

There are few things in the world that people are willing to travel great distances for. Food, family, and music are probably at the very top of that list. It is hard to imagine life without any of them, so if you’ve been missing out on any of these things; if life has taken over and you haven’t had a chance to kick back and enjoy them for a while, mark your calendar and make your way to the Tippy Creek Winery for the best festival of the year. Bring your friends, bring your family and make a full day of it.

Come by car, by jeep, by motorcycle, whatever. Heck, you can even come by boat if you want. The cost is only $5 and all the proceeds will be contributed to the Kosciusko County Police Reserves Department. It’s the best way to have a great time and support a good cause while doing it.

For those coming from long distances, accommodations can be found at the local Oaktree Resort in Syracuse, which is only a stone’s throw from the festival site, so you can sashay on over whenever the spirit strikes you.
